Chi Cheng was a passionate musician and an inspired poet. The Deftones bassist, and Sacramento local, will be missed by all who knew him, and all who connected with his music and spoken word.
Music has long been a catalyst for change. When musicians, who already use their art to spread a feeling or a message, hone in on injustices... they help others gain confidence in their own ability to make a stand. From the iconic 60's anti war music and the protests of the time... to the more recent all-girl Russian punk band, Pussy Riot, who made headlines by standing up to the oppressive Russian Orthodox Church and it's support of Vladimir Putin... both genres and individual artists can incite awareness and, as one can hope, change.
"Repurpose is a group of young emerging artists coming together and collaborating ingenuity. We are resourceful, eclectic, and the next generation designers, videographers, painters, and sculptors. We acknowledge that art is and can be made out of anything. We want to have fun with this show and give the public something that will excite all the senses. It is our intention for the viewer to look up, look down, and all around. To touch, hear, and feel the new space that we will collaboratively create." ~ REPURPOSE - A Collaborative Multi-Media Installation
