Hot Laps with Roger Post
Just a few hot laps with Truckee transplant, Roger Post. Originally from Alaska, Roger has traded in the wrist bands for headbands and fake ray-bans. One of the best things about Boreal is how close it is and how quickly you can bang out 10-15 runs.
When the term Friday Night Lights is mentioned, thoughts come to mind of small town football heroes carrying tradition on their backs as their athletic feats inspire awe among the crowds gathered to bask in their moments of triumph and defeat. At Boreal the same holds true except less jocks, less cheerleaders, and less "good job" pats on the butt.
Lighten Up Bro!
Tahoe has no Fluxin snow so I took off to Vegas to try these new bindings. Yeah sadly the Las Vegas Ski and Snowboard Resort has about ten times the snow we have in tahoe. LVSSR isn't the object of this review so let's talk about bindings.
The DMCC Light lives up to the light hype. Flux hit the stage, spun around the pole a few times, and stripped down aspects of the binding to drop the ounces with no noticeable change in performance. The standard forward lean adjuster is gone but lean jockeys can still get their fix with multiple highback mounting points. The binding feels solid despite being so light. The straps are comfortable and keep everything tucked in and out of the way.
The only real issue is that all the hardware isn't tool-less. Luckily there are always plenty of tools on the hill. Also the footbed is made to bend upward, just below the toe ramp, for access to the disk. Only time will tell if bending that flap up over and over will cause it to break off but so far it looks fine. All in all a great binding that will not only make your board lighter but your wallet too.
