Snoop Dogg & Wiz Khalifa 'Mac & Devin Go to High School: Music From and Inspired by the Movie' Review

"So what we get drunk, So what every songs bout weed, we just havin' fun, we don't care what we sing," pretty much sums up "Mac & Devin Go to High School."

The legendary West Coast rapper Snoop Dogg teamed up with Wiz Khalifa for the movie and soundtrack, "Mac & Devin Go To High School." The movie is set to drop in early 2012, while the album was released December 12th. As its title suggests, Snoop and Wiz's new joint effort has a academic theme filled with the pounds of chronic smoke they burned while recording. With track names "Smokin On," "I Get Lifted," "You Can Put It In A Zag, Imma Put It In A Blunt," "Young, Wild, & Free," and "French Inhale" it's not a mystery this is not only a soundtrack to a movie but also a soundtrack for the stoner lifestyle.

Snoop Dogg has been America's quintessential weed ambassador for over two decades and it appears the "D-O-Double G" has chosen who he will pass the blunt to. And why not? Wiz has often been considered the next generations Snoop Dogg. No two MC's embody the easy hustlin', carefree pimpin', and puffin' lifestyle better than Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa. "Mac & Devin Go To High School" is devoted to the mentor and his protege's love for weed in attempt to become the "Cheech And Chong" of modern day. "They smoked joints, they were funny, they were cool and they would get into real situations," Snoop Dogg said. "To me, that's what me and Wiz represent. A lot of kids growing up don't understand who Cheech and Chong are. So we're the modern-day image of them. We're bringing it back."

The album itself showcases the talents and chemistry between the two rappers. It is fun, humorous, and poppy but lacks content. A genre I like to call Dance-Hop or Hip-Pop. There is no menace, onlypuffin blunts, smokin' spliffs, and rippin' bongs. Still, Wiz & Snoop were able to keep me listening to a genre I typically despise. There styles and talent flow seemlessly throughout the album and tracks which will be hits among the pop culture dominating the airwaves. But I hope Mac & Devin's next trip back to school has Snoop channel his ole school gangsta style not his Master P days again.

Check out Snoops interview about the movie and the sountrack as well as the official trailer for "Mac & Devin Go To High School." The movie looks to be a mixture of weed humor, bad acting, and cheesy comedy. But be sure to medicate before you go see it . . . .
